BETSY is free for non-commercial use on the condition that credit is provided where appropriate and you keep me informed of your application and or research.

Note: BETSY needs to be trained before she can score essays. Training requires 100's if not 1000's of pre-scored essays. (Several people have downloaded BETSY thinking she can score essays right out of the box.) 

Download the latest version of BETSY.

Betsy comes as a 580K setup.exe file. You can put it in a temporary directory and run it. The setup program will ask where you want to install BETSY.

Betsy has been tested on Windows 95, 98, ME, and NT and was written in PowerBasic. This is a computationally and disk intensive program. You need to have a fast machine and lots of storage. 

Bugs

• Argument training does not work with essays that are more than 700 words or so.
